|Al Cardenas Headlines Christian Family Coalition|
|Florida House Speaker Dean Cannon also shares his faith with participants|
MIAMI-After a four-year hiatus, the Christian Family Coalition restored the "Florida Leadership Prayer Breakfast" on Thursday, March 24th, 2011 at the Leon County Civic Center in Tallahassee, Florida. Elected officials participated in the event which had long been a staple of the Florida legislative session until it was abandoned in 2006 because legislators would be in violation of a new lobbying law since the annual event was in part underwritten by lobbyists.
"This year's event was completely underwritten using private funds, in fact, we would like to thank our sponsor, Israel Ministry of Tourism, without whom this event would not have been possible", stated Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition.
The keynote speaker was Al Cardenas, newly-elected chairman of the American Conservative Union and former two-time chairman of the Florida Republican Party. Cardenas shared the importance of living out our faith in the culture as well as the need to defend the institution of marriage as the union of one man, one woman.
Also in attendance was the Florida Speaker of the House, Dean Cannon, State Rep. and Charles Van Zant, who both gave stirring prayers and speaker designate, Will Weatherford who lead the event in the Pledge of Allegiance.
We would also like to publicly the Olsen's Tenney and Pam, from the International House of Prayer (IHOP) for their valuable assistance in organizing this event.
"Over one-hundred participants attended this year, but our goal is to restore this important event to its former glory in the coming years", concluded Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition.
