Here is your exclusive update on the status of the "  2011 Christian Family Coalition Agenda"   items in Tallahassee:
 
Abortion/ Public Funding/Construction of Rights:

 
1. 
House Joint Resolution 1179 by Rep. Baxley will constitutionally prohibit the use of public funds to pay for an abortion or any health coverage that include abortion. It will also narrow the so-called "right" to an abortion in the Florida Constitution to mirror that in the U.S. Constitution.  This bill passed out of the House Health and Human Services Committee. It is currently waiting to be placed on the agenda of the House Judiciary Committee, which is also its final stop before going to the House floor for a vote. 
 

Senate Joint Resolution 1538 - its Senate counterpart, sponsored by Senator Flores passed out of the Senate Rules Committee.  This was the final committee of reference for the Senate Bill and will now head to the Senate floor for a vote. (Resolutions are used to propose state constitutional amendments by the legislature). 
 
Ultrasound Bill:
 

2. HB 1127 by Rep. Porter requires that ultrasound be performed and reviewed with patient before woman gives informed consent for abortion procedure; requires that woman certify in writing that she declined to review ultrasound and did so of her own free will without undue influence; provides exemption from requirement to view ultrasound for women who are victims of rape, incest, domestic violence, or human trafficking or for women who have serious medical condition necessitating abortion.  This bill passed out of the Health & Human Services Quality Subcommittee. It is currently waiting to be placed on the agenda of the Health & Human Services Committee which is also its final stop before going to the House floor for a vote. 

 
SB 1744 its Senate counterpart sponsored by Senator Storms passed out of the Health Regulation Committee.  It is currently waiting to be placed on the agenda of the Senate Budget Committee, which is also its final stop before going to the Senate floor for a vote. 
 
Parental Notification:
 
3. HB 1247 by Rep. Stargel revises procedure for judicial waiver of notice relating to termination of pregnancy of minor; provides for minor to petition for hearing within specified time; provides that court consider certain additional factors, including whether minor's decision to terminate her pregnancy was due to undue influence; provides procedure for appeal if judicial waiver of notice is not granted. This bill passed out of the House Judiciary Committee this was the final committee of reference for the House Bill and will now head to the House floor for a vote. 
 
SB 1770 its Senate counterpart sponsored by Senator Hays passed out of the Senate Health Regulation Committee.  It is currently waiting to be placed on the agenda of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which is its second of three committee stops  before going to the Senate floor for a vote. 
 
Proposed Parental Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution:
 
4.  HM 557 by Rep. Coley establishes parental rights as a fundamental right. Urges Congress to propose to states for ratification amendment to U.S. Constitution relating to parental rights.  This bill has passed all of its committees and will now head to the House floor for a vote.
 
SM 954 its Senate counterpart sponsored by Rep. Flores has also passed all of its committees and will now head to the Senate floor for a vote.
