MIAMI-Just moments after passage of the historic passage of HB-1143, a bill relating to health care in Florida, State Senator Dan Gelber had the audacity to attack women's health options and taxpayer rights by calling on Florida Governor Charlie Crist to veto the bill. "Senator Gelber wants to be Florida's next attorney general for all the people of our state, yet he is already endangering women's health and taxpayer rights by calling on Governor Crist to veto this common-sense bill, which is supported by a broad coalition of women's rights and minority leaders", stated Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition.

"Gelber's ideologicallly driven agenda knows no bounds, he is objecting to this common-sense bill because it gives women who are considering an abortion the CHOICE of voluntarily reviewing and having a live ultrasound explained to her before the procedure, should she choose to, otherwise, she can decline, it is ALWAYS the woman's CHOICE", stated Carole Griffin, a statewide woman's rights leader. The second amendment Gelber objects to simply provides that no state or local government funds may be used to pay for abortion on demand.

Numerous surveys already show taxpayers are admanlty opposed (70% +) to having their hard-earned tax dollars used to pay for abortion. How ironic, on the one hand Senator Gelber claims, regarding abortion, that he is opposed to the "notion that the government should be involved in such a private decision", yet he is perfectly willing to use government money (our hard earned taxpayer dollars) to pay for these very same abortions.
