Florida House Passes ALL 3 Christian Family Coalition 

(CFC) Bills During Historic Session!

Smashing victories for religious equality, women's rights and the nation of Israel!

 

MIAMI-Today, the Christian Family Coalition (CFC), Florida's premier human rights and social justice organization announced three smashing victories in the Florida legislature with the passage of the Religious Equality (Freedom to Pray) bill, the Women's Rights bill, and a Resolution Supporting the Nation of Israel.

 

All three proposals made up the Christian Family Coalition (CFC) set of 2012 legislative priorities.

 

CS/SB 98 - House Sponsor Charles Van Zant (R) - Religious Equality (Freedom to Pray) bill allows students to share an inspirational message, which may or may not include a prayer, during school assemblies.  The CFC successfully lobbied and built support for this proposal during its 2012 Day at the Capitol, as a direct result of our efforts we identified twenty-three (23) supporters, among them ten (10) became co-sponsors!

The vote:At exactly one minute before NOON, the Florida House made history by passing the Religious Equality (Freedom to Pray) bill by a bipartisan vote of 88-27. The Religious Equality bill now awaits the Governor's signature.

CS/HB 277 - House Sponsor Rachel Burgin (R) - Women's rights bill allows all women in Florida a 24-hour waiting period before deciding whether or not to get an abortion.  Furthermore, it will extend full legal protection to unborn children who survive an attempted abortion and protect women from the heinous procedure of partial birth abortion.  The CFC successfully identified seventeen (17) supporters for this bill during its 2012 Day at the Capitol.

The voteThis afternoon, the Florida House sent to the State Senate the Women's Rights Bill by a bipartisan vote of 78-33

SR 1396/HR 1447 - House Sponsor Scott Plakon (R) - A resolution Commending the nation of Israel for its cordial and mutually beneficial relationship with the United States and with the State of Florida, etc. The CFC identified twenty-two (22) supporters for this historic resolution, among them thirteen (13) co-sponsors during its 2012 Day at the Capitol.

The voteThis resolution was adopted by the Florida House on the evening of Wednesday, February 29th.
