On Friday, November 13th, the Christian Family Coalition, Florida's premier human rights organization, held its 14th annual gala dinner at Signature Gardens in Miami, Florida, with over 500 people in attendance! "This was, by far, the most successful gala dinner in the history of the organization," stated Anthony Verdugo, Founder and Executive Director, Christian Family Coalition.
The keynote speaker for the evening was the Honorable Florida Governor Charlie Crist. The Governor spoke about the importance of faith and humility in our lives. In fact, since becoming governor, Crist acknowledged how his dependence on God has grown even more. He also spoke about how important it is for elected officials to recognize that they are public servants and owe their allegiance to those who elected them, not to themselves or special interests.
After a wonderful dinner, those in attendance were treated to a superb gospel performance by Abigail McDonald, which was followed by our Friend of the Family Awards Ceremony where State Representatives Eduardo "Eddy" Gonzalez and Julio Robaina, among others, were honored for their pro-life, pro-family voting record in Tallahassee during the 2009 Statewide Legislative Session.
Adriana Gonzalez from Parental Rights, also spoke about the importance of Congress to adopt the Parental Rights Amendment in order to stop the United Nations from imposing the international treaty on the so-called "rights of the child" on America.
Many special thanks to our Master of Ceremonies/Honorary Host for the evening the Honorable Mayor of Hialeah Julio Robaina, the Cuban-American Veterans Association for the presentation of the colors, and the Honorable Miami-Dade County Commissioner Joe Martinez for leading us in the Pledge of Allegiance.
