The 63rd Annual National Day of Prayer!

MIAMI-Tomorrow, May 1, 2014, the 63rd Annual National Day of Prayer will be observed by believers across America and by people who love America around the world. Upwards of 40,000 prayer gatherings will take place in the U.S. - in churches, city squares, county courthouses and other public and private places.

The theme for this year's National Day of Prayer is "One Voice, United in Prayer," based upon Romans 15:6, "So that with one mind and one voice you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ."

The Honorary Chairperson of this year's observance is Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Evangelist Billy Graham.

National Day of Prayer Task Force is urging those who will be leading prayer gatherings across the nation to unite around a simple model prayer. Read and hear the model prayer, offered by Anne Graham Lotz, HERE.

A Resolution passed by Congress in 1952 and signed into law by President Harry Truman established the National Day of Prayer as an annual observance. In 1988 Congress revised the law to specify the day to be observed as the first Thursday of May each year.

U.S. Code (Pub. L. 105-225, August 12, 1998, 112 Stat. 125) declares: "The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals.: The President shall issue each year a proclamation designating the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer on which the people of the United States may turn to God in prayer and meditation at churches, in groups, and as individuals."
